EMBRYO LAMBS
In a previous post we mentioned that due to our embryo programme [lambs born from surrogate mutton merino ewes] and going back to lambing 3X in 2 years, our numbers have sescalated to such an extent that we have to reduce our ewe stock numbers to accommodate the explosion of numbers.
Hence the reason for the sale on 11 November.
The photos below illustrate the importance of doing an embryo programme in your herd, ie - your quality improves dramatically when using your best ewes by getting an average of 7-8 lambs per flushing.
This you can do 3 times with an ewe, with intervals of 6 weeks.
Your numbers increase as well as the surrogates are rearing the lambs.
These lambs are 90 days old and average weight is around 38 KG
